Laser tattoo removal is a non-invasive medical procedure designed to eliminate or lighten unwanted tattoos. We use the highly advanced Evo Q-Plus C Q-switched Laser from Quanta for our laser tattoo removal. This laser contains three true wavelengths: 1064nm, 694nm, and 532nm to effectively remove all colours on most skin types. Difficult to treat blues and purples can be removed with this device!
During the procedure, the laser emits brief pulses of light energy that are selectively absorbed by the pigments in the tattoo. The intense energy causes the tattoo ink to fragment into smaller particles, which are then gradually eliminated by the body's natural processes. Multiple sessions are typically required to achieve optimal results, and the specific number depends on factors such as the size, colour, and depth of the tattoo.

Our Bare 808 diode laser from Luvo Medical can effectively treat light brown to black hair on skin types I-V. The Diode 808nm wavelength targets the melanin in the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue. The light energy is absorbed by the hair in the follicle, destroying the source and preventing future regrowth. The Bare system offers a continuous wave feature with fast repetition rates to quickly treat large areas like the back.
It is important to adhere to a laser hair removal schedule as the laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle during the growth phase - so that also means no waxing, plucking, or depilatory creams while getting your treatments.

LASER MELASMA TREATMENT
Key Purpose
Reduce melasma and hyperpigmentation

Melasma is characterized by brown or blue-gray freckle light spots, often on the face. Melasma happens because of overproduction of the cells that make the color of your skin. This can be triggered by hormones, and is often called "the mask of pregnancy" because it so often affects women who are pregnant or on oral contraceptives. Women with darker skin tones are also more prone to melasma, likely because there naturally are more melanocytes in the skin to begin with.
While melasma may go away on its own, this skin condition can also last for years. Flare ups can also happen when exposed to UV rays or heat without proper sun protection.
If you dislike the discoloration on your skin caused by melasma certain treatments can sometimes help. Using Q-switched laser technology can gently break down the pigmentation in your skin without damaging the surrounding tissue. Multiple sessions may be required.
Melasma can be complicated and stubborn, so we often pair laser treatments with other modalities and at-home care to achieve the best results. This may include microneedling, chemical peels, and lightening ingredients in skin care.
INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy - although not a true laser - is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure used to treat various skin conditions, including sun spots and rosacea. This treatment is most effective for lighter skin types.
For sun spots (also known as age spots or hyperpigmentation), IPL works by emitting a broad spectrum of light wavelengths that target the melanin in the skin, breaking down the excess pigment. This leads to a reduction in the appearance of sun spots, resulting in a more even skin tone.
In the case of rosacea, IPL targets the dilated blood vessels responsible for the redness and flushing associated with the condition. The intense light energy heats and damages these blood vessels, causing them to collapse and eventually be absorbed by the body. This reduces redness and can alleviate other symptoms of rosacea, such as flushing and visible blood vessels.
IPL treatments are typically performed in a series of sessions spaced a few weeks apart to achieve optimal results. The procedure is generally well-tolerated, with minimal discomfort and downtime. However, some temporary side effects like redness, swelling, or mild discomfort may occur immediately following treatment.

LASER ACNE TREATMENTS
Key Purpose
Kill bacteria, reduce inflammation

Laser treatments for active acne utilize focused beams of light to target and reduce the bacteria, inflammation, and excess oil production associated with acne.
Q-switched lasers emit high-intensity pulses of light in very short durations, which can effectively target specific pigments in the skin, including those associated with acne. These lasers can help reduce acne lesions by targeting the melanin in the skin and also by stimulating collagen production, which can improve skin texture and reduce scarring associated with acne.
IPL treatments, on the other hand, utilize a broad spectrum of light wavelengths to target multiple skin concerns simultaneously, including acne. IPL can help reduce acne by targeting the bacteria responsible for breakouts, as well as reducing inflammation and shrinking the sebaceous glands to decrease oil production.
Both Q-switched lasers and IPL treatments can be effective in reducing active acne. However, the choice between the two depends on various factors, including the specific type of acne, skin type, and individual treatment goals.
Our skin specialists may recommend a regime of laser therapy and other skin modalities, based on your unique needs.
